Thanks for all Your Help
Thursday, December 11, 2008
Today we announced that with Google Chrome's fifteenth release, we are taking off the "beta" label. We set goals around improving the stability and performance of the browser, and many of you have helped us meet these goals. We are grateful to the many people around the world who have contributed patches to Chromium (we had our first come from Korea after only five hours), the dedicated volunteers who have filed and triaged bugs in our issue tracker, the loyal users who braved the sometimes rocky dev channel releases, and everyone who took the simple step of opting-in to sending usage statistics and crash reports.
Google Chrome wouldn't be where it is today without your help. Of course, there's still a ton more to do, so keep the feedback, patches, bug reports, and moral support coming!

We're still waiting for the promised OS X and Linux versions. Why no word on that?

@Al: There are build instructions for the mac at http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/MacBuildInstructions, and you'll also find a link to pre-build binaries of the current Mac version.

I agree that Chrom is not as polished as Safari or FF, but as a 1.0 release that has forced auto updates I dont see an issue with removing the Beta tag.
It has the features required for the average user, is stable, and faster then IE. What taking the Beta tag off does is allow Google to start pushing it to OEM's to get installed as the default browser thus increasing it's market share.
Is it the best browser around for the Tech crowd? No it is missing far too many feature for that, but Google pushing for mass market adoption at this point makes sense

There is a strange problem with Google Chrome (1.0.154.36) as well as some previous releases, performing over 50 times slower with a specific simple Google Docs spreadsheet than the IE7 that's part of Windows XP SP3.
It does not appear to be caused by any plugins or other crud, as this is still a relatively fresh XP install, with firewall turned on, antivirus, and a router with a hardware firewall enabled. System tray is minimal, and I am a software developer that pays attention to my computer system.

As glad as I am to see the Beta tag come off Chrome, when is the same tag coming off other Google Products? Especially GMail, since that must be way past Beta by now.
And I'm really wanting the Mac version. Chrome is my favourite browser on Windows (outstripping Firefox and Safari by miles, and IE by light years), but I really want the Mac experience. Hurry up, guys!!!

:-0 Whoever heard of a jump from a 0.4 to a 1.0 release? Can't say that I'm disappointed though - any move that helps reduce the market share held by MSIE, or more likely, helps encourage its' developers to hurry up and support canvas, is a good thing.

Can't resist to post this.
So I upgraded to 1.* and went on to my iGoogle page and received this error from Gtalk:
"We currently don't support chat in this browser. Coming soon, stay tuned!"
Has Google become too big to talk together with other departments? :P

Congrats on getting out of Beta so quickly. I cannot switch until I have live access to my Google bookmarks in the toolbar. I work on 4 different computers and I could not live without my google bookmarks. Not sure why this was not addressed. A static import (which I learned how to do) is not a substitute for me. Please fix this and I will convert, as I have with so many other Google aps.

Repeating what Jay (and me) said above, I will add that this link:

doesn't work at all. I'm afraid that your Gov. wouldn't be happy if they knew it

Two comments. First, Chrome is great! Much, much faster than Firefox or MS IE. Two, can you put the "home" button in there somewhere? Really miss being able to hit home.

Why does Google Chrome install itself in "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application" Folder? This is so irritating. If I change the user, I need to re-install OR re-configure the Chrome .EXE path. It would be great if you could install Chrome in C:\Program Files.
Any particular reason for choosing the user documents folder?

You can enable it via options. Spanner > Options > First tab > Show home button on toolbar.

Great job. It's become my browser of choice for demonstrating the new very rich interfaces available using tools such as ExtJs.
But the debugging still leaves a lot to be desired. We're back to the 80s and typing commands to set breaks, step through code and examine stuff. When is debugging going to be up to Firebug's standard?

I installed Chrome on my two other PC (yes, I'm bi-system) and it was as fast as a greased leopard in a buffet. Well done:) Now waiting for OSX!!

Hi
I've been testing out Google Chrome: Its efficient , fast and innovative.Currently it is the best platform to take the web to the next level...
If a developer or group of developers can find a way to integrate or link the Opencl ( http://www.khronos.org/opencl/ ) with Google Chrome so that interactive 3d envirenments can be easily built into the web and the increasing avaialability of processors can be leveraged it would be wonderful.
Thanks

Sorry ... but if we are talking about ... The Open Source that we're not talking about Linux and its Distros?
It is clear that this tool GOOGLE, aims only to generate support for Windows, so it is not a free tool.
Do not be fooled, here we continue to suffer its failings and windows, their nightmares and their viruses, there is no freedom here, here is just something nice to think something behind that is so fragile and insecure.
When this application was developed for LINUX, will be independent enough, to know that this is something new ...
(google page traducer) sorry
